The Sanctuary is a 100 hectare coastal development in Mangawhai comprising 55 house sites serviced by 3km of sealed and concrete roads.

A feature of the construction was the lake that served the dual function of an aesthetic attraction and for stormwater control. Extensive planting was carried out as part of the development.
